The urban development concept

The framework plan

The framework plan
Over the course of the next 20 years, new and attractive residential and working districts will gradually be created in Stuttgart. No other region, no other city anywhere in Germany can currently offer such excellent urban development potential. The town planning concept is based on the Stuttgart 21 plan approved by Stuttgart city council in 1997, which is based on the design proposed by the architects Trojan, Trojan + Neu from Darmstadt and accepted by Stuttgart municipal council in July 1997. This was the outcome of an international urban development competition, with entries from highly renowned architects, as well as intense public debate between the population of Stuttgart, town planning engineers, politicians and various associations.

Framework plan indicates the key areas of use

The framework plan indicates potential usage zonings and focal points for the individual areas of Stuttgart 21. Altogether, the new districts will provide office and commercial sites for around 20,000 jobs and approx. 11,000 apartments.
