From Stuttgart city centre to the airport in just eight minutes
Shorter, faster, more direct: the whole of Baden-Württemberg will benefit from the Stuttgart – Ulm rail project. Restructuring the entire Stuttgart rail node, together with construction of a new-build line to Ulm, will enable a significant expansion of long-distance and regional rail services and simultaneously reduce journey times.
The new Stuttgart Main Station is designed as a through station with a ring system connecting it to the regional and long-distance rail network in all directions (Feuerbach, Bad Cannstatt, Untertürkheim and Filder Tunnel). Stuttgart lies in a valley basin, which the trains will enter and leave through tunnels. The new direct link to the airport and Stuttgart trade fair centre ensure optimum traffic connections throughout the entire Filder region. In future, railway traffic to the south-east will run on the efficient Stuttgart – Ulm new-build line.
