New S-Bahn station in the Rosenstein district
The new Mittnachtstrasse S-Bahn station will be built at the interface between the Nordbahnhof area and the new Rosenstein district planned by Stuttgart city council and will be used by all S-Bahn lines.
Situated parallel to Rosensteinstrasse and south of Mittnachtstrasse, it will provide transport services for the new district and for the area between Nordbahnhofstrasse and Rosensteinstrasse. Stuttgart city council’s plans envisage extending Mittnachtstrasse as far as the new S-Bahn station and beyond, thus linking up the entire area. Passengers travelling from Feuerbach to Bad Cannstatt or vice versa will be able to change trains at this new station, relieving congestion at the S-Bahn station at main station. As a result, some 20,000 S-Bahn passengers will reach their destinations faster as they no longer have to make a detour via main station.
