From Stuttgart to Ulm

Important facts about the individual line sections

Before construction begins, the Stuttgart – Ulm rail project has to receive the required planning permission by undergoing the project approval procedures pursuant to Section 18 of the German General Railway Act (AEG).


The Stuttgart 21 project breaks down into seven project approval sections (PFA):

1.1         Valley crossing incl. Stuttgart Main Station
1.2         Filder Tunnel
1.3         Airport area, Filder station at the airport and Rohrer Kurve
1.4         Filder area up to Wendlingen
1.5         Feuerbach and Bad Cannstatt link incl. S-Bahn connection
1.6a       Ober/Untertürkheim link
1.6b       Untertürkheim stabling sidings
 

The Wendlingen – Ulm new-build line project also has seven project approval sections:

2.1a/b    Link-up to Stuttgart 21
2.1c        Foothills of Swabian Alb mountains
2.2          Alb ascent
2.3          Alb crossing
2.4          Alb descent
2.5a1      Integration of Ulm Main Station
2.5a2      Danube Bridge in Ulm
